FEMA Waterproofing

Exterior envelope work for flood zone construction and elevated structures.

FEMA-compliant elevated homes on Long Island have specific exterior envelope requirements that differ from standard residential construction. We've worked on elevated homes across the island and understand the foundation wrap, below-grade membrane, and penetration sealing details required for flood zone construction — both during new construction and as retrofit work on existing elevated structures.

Exterior waterproofing scope includes foundation membrane application, wall wrap and drainage mat installation, window and door rough opening flashing (at the sill and jamb, not the finish trim), and penetration sealing for utility entries and structural post connections. All work is exterior — we do not do interior French drain or sump systems.

If your home is in an AE or VE flood zone and you've had water infiltration at the foundation or crawlspace level despite an elevated first floor, the cause is usually at the exterior envelope — not the structure. We can assess the condition of existing waterproofing and propose targeted repairs or full re-treatment where the original installation has failed.
